On the 29th May 2017 Passang Geljen Sherpa completed the Everest marathon, the highest marathon in the world! Starting at the Everest base camp (17,598ft) and finishing at Namche Bazaar (11306ft), it covers 42.195 km over rough, gruelling mountain trails. He finished in an amazing 8 hours 29 minutes!
Passang is passionate about providing a good quality education for children in Nepal. This is an area that resonates strongly with him as sadly, his father died when he was just 9 years old. This left his family with no income and no means to enable the children to go school. His own experiences have inspired him to make a difference, to provide children from some of the poorest parts of Nepal with the opportunities to succeed and reach their potential.
His fantastic efforts have raised over £6000 for Classrooms in the Clouds. This will contribute towards our exciting Kangel school project, where we will be building 6 earthquake resistant classrooms as well as providing clean water and gender specific toilets.
